XGRN, documenting the life cycle of a water bottle
We think of ourselves as isolated here in the far north. Beyond subsistence and raw materials, we produce very little and depend on the Outside for many of our goods and services. Little did we know we were ahead of a global curve. While a whole transportation, logistics, production and marketing infrastructure has developed to service our frontier economy, another, greater infrastructure was developing to provide the rest of the world with access to each other’s goods and materials. Studying the life cycle of a simple consumer good, one recognizes that we are all connected, that our choices and actions impact far reaching corners of the earth. This exploration represents the life cycle of a bottle of water through its uses, markets and relationships. Something that looks so simple on the shelf is made up of parts from all over, and when you are done using it will go to far and unexpected places.
